We all have
been through the phase where we find the need of forwarding our resumes to
company websites and hiring agencies. We know what we want to see in the resume
and we know what the employer wants to see in it but at times we forget what is
not required and what needs to be left out.
Various
mistakes at times makes our resume our worst enemy than being the key to
opening the door of success. We list out a few points to note while you make a
resume but try to avoid mistakes.
· Including
irrelevant work experiences.
Irrelevant work experiences only make
your resume lot weaker. Using past work experience that may not be useful to
the current scenario and the job you applying for then its better left out
· Writing
your hobbies.
Your hobbies are for you to pursue and
your potential employer or hiring manager is no interested in what sport you
love to play of what you do with your weekends. Information like this is better
avoided than added in a resume.
· Being
Indefinite
Define your goals and your
accomplishments. Indefinite goals and achievements are worth nothing and
putting them together as sensible cohesive subject would be very helpful.
· Typos
& Grammatical Errors
The thumb rule of writing your resume is
to write it in precise and clear language. Anything lesser than that will only
defame the entire process of your resume being shortlisted. Immaculate grammar
and a clear statement is worth a way to move forward.
· Using
too many words
Lesser the words, more the
effectiveness. Too many words clog your resume and the person’s mind reading it
and reading a resume needs patience to go through everything achieved and done.
It’s better to keep your highlighted points in the clear and let the others go.
