The ending of your interview is
just as important as the ending. As they always say, all that starts well, ends
well. Here are a few tips on how to have a happy ending (and most likely
receive a job offer) at your next interview:
·
Prepare questions – There
is always a question-answer session at the end of an interview. Make sure that
you have prepared a good few questions to ask. Employers appreciate candidates
that show interest in the company’s processes. While you may be tempted to ask
the benefits and salary package you would receive, save these questions for
after you get your offer letter.
·
Deal with concerns – Job
hopping can raise questions in the minds of interviewers regarding the
fulfilment of your tenure at their company. If you are someone who changes jobs
on a regular basis, be prepared to answer related questions. Chances are that
they would consider the employment gaps before making a decision about you. In
case you feel that there are some questions that have been left unsaid, feel
free to ask.
·
Further process – Asking
the interviews if you got the job at the end of the interview would be
inappropriate. But just for your clarification, you can ask the further steps
involved in the recruitment process so that you can learn if there are other
interviewees in queue and by when you can hear from them.
·
Thank You – The last but
not the least. A firm handshake and a sincere thank you can go a long way. Make
use of follow-up letters to remind them of your interview. It also shows
employers that you are keen on becoming a part of their company.
Another day and another
interview. A stream of interviews have passed but you still haven’t received
any formal job opportunities. What next, you ask? Another round of interviews.
Whilst this cycle seems to be never-ending, do not be demotivated. Instead,
look at the situation as a learning opportunity and work towards improving your
skills with every interview.
